Fontworks Inc. Tokyo: Redefining Office Design with Fusion of Analog and Digital

Creating a Workspace that Embodies "Character More Freely"

Fontworks Inc., a renowned design company, has unveiled its new headquarters in Minato-ku, Tokyo, designed by Tomohiro Katsuki of PRISM DESIGN. This innovative office space combines the best of analog and digital elements, fostering creativity, collaboration, and a seamless fusion of traditional and new technologies.

The inspiration for this design came from the need for a new office environment that promotes creativity and collaboration. The centerpiece of the office is a unique "C"-shaped desk, symbolizing the keywords "Creative and Collaboration." This desk serves as a hub for employees to work together and generate new ideas. Additionally, a large display is installed in the center of the wall, connecting Fontworks' Creative Lab in Fukuoka for active online communication between the two sites.

One of the key features of this design is the emphasis on casual communication and interaction. At the entrance, a stair-shaped bench and display create a space for employees to engage with people outside the company, fostering a sense of community and openness. This design ensures that Fontworks can provide services that adapt to the evolving environment and continue to nurture and provide free ideas.

The new office space is a testament to Fontworks' commitment to embodying "Character More Freely." By combining analog and digital elements, the design team has created a workspace that reflects the company's ethos of fusion and collaboration. The office is a physical manifestation of Fontworks' dedication to providing further communication opportunities and expanding their business.

The realization of this design required a careful selection of materials and technologies. From original color carpet tiles to concrete PVC and laminated sheets, each element was chosen to enhance the overall aesthetic and functionality of the space. The use of wood PVC, Corian, and aluminum paint and laminated sheets adds a touch of warmth and sophistication to the office environment.

The design team also paid attention to the technical specifications of the office. With a total area of 431 square meters, the office is located on the 5th floor of the Nisshin Aoyama Building. The ceiling height, measuring 2900mm (slab: 4100mm), creates an open and spacious atmosphere.

Fontworks' new headquarters in Tokyo is a testament to the company's commitment to innovation and creativity. By seamlessly blending analog and digital elements, the office space embodies the essence of Fontworks' fonts and reflects their dedication to providing services that adapt to the changing environment. This design has been recognized with the prestigious Bronze A' Design Award in 2020, highlighting its outstanding creativity and contribution to quality of life improvements.
